How-to video 1
LaneTally Home Page Explained (Video + Steps)
Every morning a dispatcher asks the same thing: what needs me first? The Home page answers it in one place. Watch the video, jump to any part with the chapters, or read the steps below.
This video gives the big picture first, then explains the carrier picker, the left menu, every card on the Home page, and the phone version.
It uses the free demo with example data, so you can open the same screens yourself.
Playing the video loads it from YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com). Nothing is loaded from YouTube before you press play. The narration voice is computer-generated. English subtitles: turn on CC. Video length 11:56. Published October 26, 2026.

Step-by-step guide
The Home page is the first screen a dispatcher sees. It shows a short line about where your loads and money stand today, then the cards that tell you what to do first. Here is each part, in the order the video shows it. The links like (1:14) open the video at that part on YouTube.
1. See the big picture first (0:00)
A dispatcher has trucks on the road, brokers calling, drivers texting and papers about to expire. LaneTally answers what needs me first? on one screen and points out what is urgent. From the same place you plan and book loads, chat with your drivers, make freight invoices for the brokers, do driver pay and keep each carrier's books apart. The free demo needs no sign-up and no card and uses fake data. This video explains every part of the Home screen, and the chapters let you jump to any part.
2. Pick whose loads you see: the carrier picker (1:14)
Top left is the carrier picker. A dispatcher can work for several carriers, and the picker decides whose loads you see. Pick All carriers to see everything together, or one carrier to focus. The percent next to each carrier's name is your dispatch fee for that carrier.
3. Set your dispatch fee or add a carrier (1:32)
Under the names are two actions.
- Change fee sets your fee for this carrier. You can charge a percent of the load or flat dollars per load. A percent is worked out on the load rate, or on the total freight. The new fee applies to loads you book from now on; loads already booked keep their old fee.
- Add a carrier asks for the company name, the MC and USDOT numbers, how you charge, the next freight invoice number, and your smallest profit per mile.
4. See what changes when you pick All carriers (2:09)
With All carriers a Your carriers card appears, with one row per carrier: its fee, its drivers, its loads on the road and the fees still to come. Open goes into that carrier. The fee chip is gone, because there is no single fee, and the number cards add the carriers together. This is also where a red Urgent line shows up, for example an invoice that is overdue or a paper that has already expired. The pill at the top is red when anything is Urgent.
5. Use the fee chip, the search box and the page buttons (2:45)
With one carrier picked, the fee chip (for example Fee 8%) shows your fee for that carrier. Click it, type a new number and press Save. If your fee is flat dollars per load, the chip shows dollars instead. The search box finds pages: type a name like Brokers and press Go. There is also a page button for every page. After you open a page from Home, a Back button at the top left returns you to Home.
6. Light mode, dark mode and language (3:11)
The sun button switches between light and dark and remembers your choice. Dispatcher screens are in English, so there is no language button here. The carrier owner and driver screens have an English and Spanish switch.
7. Learn the left menu (3:26)
At the top of the menu are the logo with the Beta tag and a box that says who you are and which carrier is picked. The box is only information. The menu is in groups:
- Home is the page you are on, in orange.
- Loads is where you plan a load and book it. A booked load shows on the driver's phone right away.
- Chat is a group chat plus private chats. Drivers never see each other's private chats. The number is unread messages.
- Fleet shows where your trucks are and how each load is going.
- Companies and paperwork: Carrier is everything for one carrier (its drivers, loads, invoices and books; it says Carriers when you pick All). Brokers are the companies that give you loads, with contact details and payment terms. Renewals lists insurance, registrations, permits, inspections, CDLs and medical cards, with a warning 30 days before. The number counts items due soon or expired.
Next, under Carrier money (4:36):
- Freight invoices: one per load, from the carrier to the broker, made from the load. You send them for the carrier.
- Driver pay: payroll for a carrier that shares its books with you.
- Carrier books: keeps each carrier's books apart.
- Cost per mile: all costs divided by all miles.
- IFTA: the quarterly fuel tax report, built from delivered loads and fuel receipts.
- Finance: money in, money out and profit.
And under Your business (5:09): My business is your own dispatch business (the invoices for your fee, your pay, your books, your finance and your documents), and the number means a paper of yours is due. Import and export brings your data in from another program or takes a copy out. At the very bottom are the version number, the Terms, My plan, how to install LaneTally on your computer and a link to report a problem or send an idea. To install it in Chrome or Edge, click the install icon at the end of the address bar, or choose Install in the browser menu.
8. Watch the Live box and the bell (6:18)
When something happens, it shows up in two places: the bell gets a count, and the Live box on Home gets a line, newest first, up to five. Lines come from a receipt photo, a new chat message, an extra stops or detention request, an invoice ready to send or overdue, a payment, or a driver on the way or delivered.
- Click a line to open it. A receipt line shows the photo, the driver, the load and when it was sent, then what it is for, the amount (for fuel, the gallons and the state), a category and how it was paid.
- Approve and add to the books puts the receipt in the books. Do not approve turns it down, and the driver sees why.
- Opening a line counts as reading it: it leaves the Live box and the bell count goes down by one. It stays in the bell as your history, with the date and an orange bar and a New mark on lines you have not read.
- Open on a line takes you to that receipt, load, invoice or chat. See all opens the full list. Mark all as read clears the orange count and empties the Live box, but the list stays.
9. Read the number cards (7:58)
- Your dispatch fees: the big number is this month's earnings, counted when loads are delivered, with six months in bars. On the right are this week and what is still to come once loads on the road are delivered. Hover the card to read the last eight weeks and six months. Click it to open My finance.
- On the road: loads moving right now, with booked loads waiting underneath. See them opens Loads on that filter.
- Not booked yet: loads you saved but have not booked. Drivers cannot see them until you do. Book them opens Loads on Not booked yet.
10. Start with Needs your attention (8:49)
This is the card to read first. LaneTally checks your loads and invoices for late deliveries, missing paperwork, low pay and papers about to expire, most urgent first. It only points things out; you decide what to do.
- Each line has an urgency. Orange Soon means due soon or something to fix. The pill at the top is orange here, red when anything is Urgent, and green with All clear when nothing needs you.
- The button on each line goes to the thing: Open load, Book it (books a load right there), Review (opens a receipt), Open on a paper, a driver's file or a truck.
- A My business tag marks a paper that is yours, not a carrier's, and Open My documents goes to your own papers. Show all opens the full list and Show fewer folds it back.
11. Check where the trucks are and Recent loads (9:55)
Where the trucks are lists each driver with the carrier, a truck number and a status: where he is, off duty until a date, or not on a load. A driver's place shows only while he is on duty. Click a truck on a load to open its route on the map. Recent loads shows the four newest: load number and broker, route and pickup time, carrier and driver (with a grey Off duty tag if he is off), the status, and the pay with the amount per loaded mile. A load nobody booked has Book it. Click a load number to open it, or See all for the Loads screen.
12. Use Home on a phone (10:41)
On a phone it is the same Home, with the menu at the bottom: Home, Loads, Chat (with its unread number), Fleet and More. More opens every other page in the same groups, then My plan, a link to report a problem, the Terms and how to install the app. The three dots hold the light and dark switch. The carrier picker and the fee chip sit on a row of their own, the Live box shows just the newest line (See all opens the full list), and there is no search box on the phone.
Next
Next is the Loads screen, where you plan a load, book it and follow it to delivered: watch the Loads video and read its steps. After that come Chat and Fleet.
Every menu of the dispatcher screens now has its own video, and there is one for drivers and one for carrier owners. Want a part of LaneTally shown in more detail? Email support@lanetally.com.
