LaneTally Brokers Page Explained (Video + Steps)
Which of your brokers pays in 15 days, and which one still owes you for an old invoice? The Brokers page keeps every broker's contact, payment terms and factoring answer in one place, and tags a late payer for you. Watch the video, jump to any part with the chapters, or read the steps below.
This video explains the broker list and its columns, the tags, the broker file, how the Watch tag marks a late payer, the Add broker form and its checks, Do not book on New load, delete, what the carrier owner sees, and the phone version.
It uses the free demo with example data, so you can open the same screens yourself.

Step-by-step guide
The Brokers page is where you keep each broker's contact details and payment terms, so every load and every invoice uses the right ones. Here is each part, in the order the video shows it. The links like (2:15) open the video at that part on YouTube.
1. See the big picture first (0:00)
Which of your brokers pays in 15 days, and which one still owes you for an old invoice? And who is your contact there, and does that broker pay factoring companies? LaneTally keeps your loads, chat, freight invoices, driver pay and the books in one place, and Brokers is where it starts. After this video you can read every column and tag, open a broker file, see how LaneTally flags a late payer, and add, change and delete a broker. The free demo needs no sign-up and no card and uses fake data.
2. Find Brokers and read the page top (0:50)
Brokers is in the left menu, right under Carrier. Under the title is what the page is for: keep their contact details and payment terms here. Add a broker at the top right opens the form. The search box finds a broker by name, MC number, contact, phone, email or factoring.
3. The list: every column (1:14)
- Broker is the company name. Press a name and the broker file opens.
- MC number is the broker's federal authority number. In the demo the numbers say example.
- Contact is the person you deal with, with their phone under the name, or their email when there is no phone.
- Factoring: a factoring company buys your invoices and pays you right away, and some brokers refuse to pay those companies. Pays factoring in green means the broker pays them, No factoring in red means it does not, and Not sure in gray means you have not found out yet.
- Pays in is the payment terms: how many days the broker has to pay. These are the agreed days, not how fast the broker really paid.
- Loads is how many of your loads are with this broker. Under the list is how many brokers there are.
At the bottom, a note says who sees brokers: only you and your staff. Carriers see just the name of the broker on their own loads, and drivers never see the broker.
4. Tags: Watch, Do not book, No billing email (2:15)
- Watch (yellow, late payer): LaneTally puts it there by itself when an invoice to that broker is 30 days or more past due. It goes away by itself when that invoice is paid.
- Do not book (red) is a tag only you set.
- No billing email (yellow) shows when no billing email is typed.
5. The broker file, line by line (2:54)
Open a broker and the file shows everything about it, top to bottom.
- The MC number, the business address, the contact person and their phone, and the after-hours phone for problems on the road at night.
- Billing email is where invoices are sent. Copy invoices to is a second email that gets a copy. A dash means it is empty.
- Status is Approved, Watch or Do not book. Billing contact is who you call about an unpaid invoice, with their phone.
- Invoices go by email or through the broker's portal; with a portal, the link shows here.
- Pays in is the payment terms and the day they count from: the day you send the invoice, or the delivery date.
- TONU pay is the pay when a truck was ordered but not used. Layover pay is the pay for each day a driver has to wait overnight. Not set means nothing was typed there.
- How they pay: ACH, check, or another way. Quick pay fee is the percent the broker keeps to pay you faster. Extra stop is the pay for each stop after the first two. Detention is the pay for each hour a driver waits, and how many hours are free.
- Pays factoring companies: yes, no or not sure, then the factoring companies this broker does pay and the ones it will not pay. Below are your notes about this broker.
- Loads with this broker lists each load with its number, route and status. At the bottom are Edit broker and Delete broker. The X closes the file.
6. A late payer: how Watch works (4:35)
In the demo, Meridian Load Co. has the Watch tag. Its status says Watch, and a yellow notice says why: one of its loads is 53 days past due, and this goes away when it is paid. A note typed for this broker says Slow payer. In Loads with this broker, the late load is the delivered one. A broker with Watch can still get loads: be careful, and check the notes first.
7. "Shown as Watch right now" in the Edit form (5:06)
Press Edit broker and the Status box can still say Approved, because that is the status that was chosen for this broker. A yellow notice says Shown as Watch right now with the late load and the number of days. LaneTally shows Watch by itself while an invoice of this broker is 30 days or more past due, and the status you pick stays as it is. The X closes the form without saving.
8. Where the late invoice is (5:40)
The late invoice itself is on Freight invoices. Pick All carriers together and find the invoice to Meridian Load Co.: it was due on August 15, 2026, it is marked 53 days past due, and it is still Sent, not Paid. That is why the broker shows Watch.
9. Search the brokers (6:07)
Type the payment days, like 45 days, and only the brokers with those terms stay. Under the list it says how many were found. Type the name of a factoring company and you see the brokers that pay it. If nothing matches, it says so. Clear the box and every broker is back.
10. Add a broker: name, contacts and invoices (6:32)
Only two boxes are required: the company name and the days they pay in. Everything else can be added later. On a computer, the dash at the top minimizes the form so you can look at another page and come back.
- Status: Approved is the normal one. Watch means be careful, for a late payer or problems. Do not book means New load will refuse to book this broker.
- MC number: their federal broker authority. Look it up before you work with them. Then the business address, the contact person, their phone, and the after-hours phone.
- Billing email: invoices go here. If two brokers share one billing email, LaneTally warns you, and you can still save. Then the billing contact and their billing phone.
- How they take invoices: by email or on a portal. Pick Portal and a new box appears for the portal link, where you upload their invoices. The link must start with https; if it does not, nothing is saved and it tells you.
- Copy invoices to is optional: a second email that gets a copy.
11. Payment terms and extra pay (7:51)
- They pay in is the number of days they have to pay (zero means due on receipt). Every freight invoice to this broker uses these days to work out its due date. Days are counted from the day you send the invoice, or the delivery date.
- Quick pay fee is the percent the broker keeps to pay you faster. Leave 0 if they do not offer it.
- Detention pay is what this broker pays for each hour your driver waits, with the free hours before detention (zero means every hour is paid). Two optional deadlines come from their rate confirmation: tell them detention started within some hours, and send the detention request within some hours. Late requests are often refused, and LaneTally reminds you when the clock starts.
- Extra stop pay: a normal load is 2 stops, and each stop after that is paid. TONU pay (truck ordered, not used) and layover pay (for each day) are optional.
- How they pay: ACH, check, ACH or check, or other.
12. Factoring, papers and notes (9:00)
Do they pay factoring companies? Pick not sure, yes or no. Then type the factoring companies this broker pays, separated by commas, and the ones it will not pay. A company cannot be in both lists: if it is, nothing is saved and it tells you. Papers this broker usually asks for is optional; they are ticked for you when you press Send documents on the Carriers page (see the Carriers video). The list has the papers brokers usually ask for, like the W-9, insurance and the MC authority letter. Notes is for how they pay, who to call, and anything to remember.
13. Saving and the checks (9:44)
Press Add broker. If the MC number is too short, nothing is saved: it must have 5 to 8 digits. If the same factoring company is in both lists, nothing is saved either, and it tells you. When the form is right, Broker added shows and you can pick the broker when you add a load. The new broker is at the bottom of the list, with its days in Pays in, its factoring answer, and 0 loads because there is no load yet.
14. The new broker file and Edit broker (10:30)
Open the new broker: invoices go by its portal and the link shows, Pays in shows the days and that they count from delivery, the extra pay lines show what you typed, Detention shows the pay, the free hours and the two deadlines, and the factoring lists are there. Edit broker opens the same form with everything filled in, for example to change the status to Do not book. Save changes saves it, loads and invoices show the new details, and a red Do not book tag appears next to the name in the list. Delete broker is in the form too.
15. What Do not book and Watch do on New load (11:11)
Go to Loads and press New load, then pick a broker marked Do not book. A note with a red border says you marked this broker Do not book and booking is refused. You can still save the load for later, or change the status on the broker page. A broker with Watch gives a yellow note instead, which repeats why: the late invoice and your notes. The X closes the form without saving. The Loads video explains the whole New load form.
16. A broker with only a name (11:45)
Type just the company name and press Add broker. The 30 days are already filled in. The new row says Not entered for the MC number and a dash for the contact, factoring says Not sure, and a yellow No billing email tag shows. The file says why: invoices to this broker cannot be sent by email until you add the billing email. Use Edit broker to add it. Loads with this broker says No loads yet.
17. Delete a broker (12:21)
Delete broker removes a broker. It asks first, and it cannot be undone. A broker that is on a load you already have cannot be deleted: it says the broker has loads and nothing is changed. To stop booking a broker, use Do not book instead.
18. What the carrier owner sees (12:47)
The carrier owner has no Brokers menu: the menu goes from Fleet to My drivers. On their own loads they see just the name of the broker. The rest of the broker details stay with you.
19. Use Brokers on a phone (13:02)
On a phone, Brokers is under More in the bottom bar, in the group Companies and paperwork. Add a broker is at the top, and the same form opens with one box under another: scroll down through it, and the X closes it without saving. The search box works the same way. Each broker is a card, not a row, with the same columns and the name of each above its value, and the tags next to the name. Tap a name and the broker file opens full width, with Edit broker and Delete broker at the bottom.
Next
Next is the Renewals page, where you see which insurance, CDL, medical card and truck papers are about to expire: watch the Renewals video and read its steps. The Brokers page also connects to loads and invoices: the Loads video shows the New load form where you pick a broker, and the Carriers video shows Send documents, which uses the papers each broker asks for.
Every menu of the dispatcher screens now has its own video, and there is one for drivers and one for carrier owners. Want a part of LaneTally shown in more detail? Email support@lanetally.com.
